Although chain mail is believed to have been used as early as the 1st millennium BC, the earliest reported use was from a 5th century BC Celtic chieftain's burial mound located in Ciumesti, Romania. Chain mail was one of the most common forms of armor during this period and it continued to be used until it reached its apex in the 13th century, when full body suits of mail armor were developed. In the 14th century, plate armor began to supplement chain mail and chain mail started to become a secondary form or armor. Our chain mail is hand assembled and features a black cross. This armor is fully functional and always makes a beautiful display piece.
