Due to the Side Sword being super lightweight and effective, it was a preferred choice throughout the 16th and 17th century Renaissance Period, not only by the military, but by civilians as well. Although the rapier was also a popular favorite during this time, the side sword had a bit of an advantage, as it was equally efficient at cutting and thrusting. This is why nearly everyone who engaged in blucker fighting had one at their hand.

We have used a German original as inspiration for ours. It is balanced and exquisitely proportioned, and your hand is given extra protection due to the swept hilt. The wrapped handle offers comfort and control, while matching the included scabbard. If you look at our edged version, you notice this side sword has the same dynamic hilt, but it is designed for safety, making it a popular choice with Renaissance societies.
