These pauldrons with prominent blade-breakers are composed of riveted and articulated plates of 18 gauge steel; riveted bands of leather give a backing for these articulated plates to move with the upper arm. The pauldrons have a set of buckles to fit them to a gorget or chestplate. Another set of buckles and matching straps fit the lower section to the arm to ensure that the arm plates move in tandem with the arm. The interior of the pauldrons is blackened to hinder rust.
A gorget or chestplate with a set of pauldron leather straps is required to wear these pauldrons as they require such a connection to keep them affixed to the shoulder. Neither of these necessary pieces of armor are included.
Please Note: A gorget (neck armor) and helmet are shown in some of the photos for demonstration purposes only and these are not included. To properly wear this armor you will need to match it with a gorget or a plate cuirass / breastplate so that this shoulder armor will stay in position after being fastened and secured.
