Hand protection for medieval knights and soldiers was a gradual process. It wasn’t until the 12th century when chainmail hauberks were sleeved and covered most of the arm that the first type of hand protection emerged as chainmail mittens. These pieces left the fingers exposed and left something to be desired. Flash forward to the 14th century with the evolution of plate armor where gauntlets entered the scene. These steel gloves were comprised of overlapping plates and came in both fingered and fingerless variations. Their effectiveness in hand to hand combat was proven and Armor Venue is pleased to offer our line of medieval gauntlets to ensure that you too are adequately protected for your next fight.
Whether you are a soldier on the battlefield or a jousting knight, our medieval gauntlets feature a wide selection of styles to make sure you aren’t taken down by a fatal blow to the hand. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to give us a call at 1-800-315-0377.
