The Medieval Knight sword, or type XIV, is the quintessential sword of the medieval period. Described in Oakeshott?s typology as being relatively short, with a strong taper and sharply pointed (E. Oakeshott: "The Sword in the Age of Chivalry" p.51 ) the Medieval Knight sword is a light and well balanced weapon which facilitated a fast and agile fighting style. As full plated armor aggregated into the complex defense of the aristocratic military elite, swords too had to be improve to counter this ever evolving defense.


Unlike the sluggish and belated fighting that characterize modern misconceptions of medieval combat, the Medieval Knight sword, or Type XIV, was a well balanced and deadly weapon innate with exceptional handling characteristics.
