The Normans fought in the Crusades and conquered both England and Sicily with the help of a visor, bevor or neck protection. Many people don’t realize what a huge role the Normans played in Medieval Europe, both politically and culturally. However, one look at their simplistic helmet and it’s easily identifiable. The helmet is light and sturdy with a cone top to provide the head with more protection from a downward blow. Of course, the nasal guard is a trademark element as well.
